I was browsing through this thread and felt compelled to reply. I have owned my GRILL DOME for about 2 and a half years now and 2 of my buddies have purchased GD kamados as well. All of us have nothing but positive things to say about the product, the customer service and TK himself.
No ceramic bbq company is perfect, and I don't expect them to be. I used to own a BGE myself before the Grill Dome. After the third or fourth cook, my whole lid fell off the hinge and broke into 3 or 4 pieces. When I asked for warranty parts, he informed me there is nothing that could be done about that. At least TK was willing enough to take the product back over a itsy bitsy cosmetic chip - not every company would be willing to do that! You still had an operational grill. I was stuck with a topless ceramic cooker and with $800 down the drain. I also know another co-worker who was telling me about cracks in his paint. I guess looking back I am happy I didnt end up with a BGE.
IMO, TK takes care of his customers as he would like to be treated himself. I have talked to TK personally and it was an absolute pleasure. I myself have not had any issues with my unit and I still love it as much as the day I bought it. It is the best investment I ever made. The food results have been much more than I expected. Unfortunately, one of my friends did have an issue with the firebox, and from what I was told - he was extremely satisfied with the customer service. TK got the replacement part out to him the very next day - no questions asked. In fact I think he threw in a metal grate as well at no charge. I know TK stands behind his product and stands behind his customer service.
