will this is my 2 cents..and i'm sure there are others..i have 2 large and 1 medium BGE.. i love them all..on warranty stuff i have had my egg now the oldies one is 5 years and the other 2 maybe 3 year now..only thing i use my warranty for was a thermometer and a spring that broke and bge send me a new spring-assisted band for that egg..like you i live on a island (Hawaii)and we to get lots of rain.. if and sometime i do get some mildew all i do is fire the egg up for maybe 15 min. and they are ready to go.. i have not had any cracking in any of my eggs.. i have and use 2 WSM (weber) when i cook away from home.. and they are a good cooker to.. but don't hold heat any were like a egg can..for me eggs are to hard to move around so they are my stay at home cookers..i hope this helps
